Rev. Eric S. C. Manning, pastor of “Mother Emanuel” in Charleston, leads a congregation with a stunning historical legacy (read more about the church here). Rabbi Hazzan Jeffrey Myers has served as the Rabbi and Cantor for the Tree of Life in Pittsburgh since the summer of 2017, having moved to the City of Bridges after spending decades in ministry in New Jersey and Long Island. The two religious leaders initially connected over their shared experience of tragedy and have grown into a close, supportive friendship. Here is a 2020 article by journalist Stephanie Hunt featuring an interview with both Rev. Manning and Rabbi Myers.
IPSC’s own Imam Omar Shaheed and Dr. Jonathan Leader round out the panel. Imam Shaheed is the resident imam of Masjid-as-Salaam since 1980 and was a chaplain with the S.C. Department of Corrections from 1985-2012. Dr. Leader is the S.C. State Archaeologist and professor in the University of South Carolina Department of Archaeology and Anthropology.
While all of our IPSC programs are free to any who wish to attend, if desired, you may make a contribution to help further our work.
