Saturday, January 18, 7:00-9:00 PM
Aiken Unitarian Universalist Church
$25 (partial proceed to benefit the food pantry)
Celebrate Interfaith Harmony Month with a unique opportunity for sound and visualization. Join us for a healing circle concert, an ancient practice many traditions use. Experience the contemplative and reflective sounds of the harps. Then, continue the meditative state, allowing the otherworldly vocal tones to lead you on a soul’s journey. The evening begins with some visualization suggestions to complement the music. The improvised harp guides the room’s energy to a deep level of relaxation. The vibration of the harp strings frees the chaotic monkey mind and opens the heart to healing. The music gently unblocks tension and stress. When the harp drifts silently, Wendelin uses her voice as a healing sound tool, sometimes described as inspired and mystical. The vocal tones open the heart and mind to a journey. Join interfaith friends to talk about A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities That Arise in Disaster by Rebecca Solnit. “The most startling thing about disasters, according to award-winning author Rebecca Solnit, is not merely that so many people rise to the occasion, but that they do so with joy. That joy reveals an ordinarily unmet yearning for community, purposefulness, and meaningful work that disaster often provides. A Paradise Built in Hell is an investigation of the moments of altruism, resourcefulness, and generosity that arise amid disaster’s grief and disruption and considers their implications for everyday life. It points to a new vision of what society could become-one that is less authoritarian and fearful, more collaborative and local.” We will meet each 4th Wed of the month from January to April. All are welcome. Questions contact
