May 1: Midlands Interfaith Meetup

On upper left, a speaker makes an explanatory gesture. Text reads, "What Are Dictatorships?" On right half of image is a photograph of a fist pointing down.

“What Are Dictatorships?” Join us for this special presentation on Tuesday, May 1.

This month’s topic will be a special presentation from Eli Ghith:

WHAT ARE DICTATORSHIPS? How are they formed, operated, and sustained? The short answer is, “systematically.” This presentation will use the 30- year reign of Syria’s Hafez Assad as a case study to answer these questions, and more, with academic scholarship, facts, examples, stories, and images. We will learn the hallmarks of dictatorships and get a first-hand glimpse of what life under a dictatorship really looks and feels like.
